Cooper Suffers Under Texas Asbestos Lawsuits

Several Texas asbestos lawsuits saw Cooper Industries, a manufacturing company located in Houston Texas, ordered by the court to pay $307 million in asbestos related fatalities claims. The numerous lawsuits were filed in July 2010, in which it challenged the venture between manufacturer Danaher and cooper industries to honor claims on asbestos.

The asbestos mineral which is found freely in the atmosphere was once widely used by manufacturers, but once its fatal health effects were discovered in the 1980s, its use was illegalized across the United States.
