File a complaint about a doctor

My father had a kidney failure that is why he was asked by a doctor to undergo dialysis twice in a week for him to be treated. Dialysis is really expensive, because the family wanted him to be treated, we decided to sell some of our belongings, our house and even our cars. He underwent dialysis for roughly eight months after being diagnosed with kidney failure. What we usually do is to send him to the hospital and just go back after few hours to bring him home, such treatment might take few hours so we will just leave him there for a while. He was scheduled to undergo the procedure that Saturday morning, when we reached the hospital my father was visited by his doctor, the doctor was the one who connects all the tubes inside my father’s body, so we all went home feeling safe since we know that doctors know best. After few hours we went back to the hospital just to find out that my father died because the doctor failed to induce the tubes inside my father’s body properly. That was a very heartbreaking scene for the whole family. We did not do anything, we did not even try to ask to do an autopsy on my father’s body to check on the reason why there was a failure. I was 12 then, when that incident happened. I just realized now that we could have filed a complain against the doctor since he did not perform his profession properly.

We entrust our health to our doctors. They are like the “guru” or experts in the field of health and medicine, we visit them if we feel something different about our health, we even entrust tem out lives and our loved ones as well. Doctors are there to save lives and not to take people’s lives.

We are all just human, but come on, they are doctors by profession and they were given license because they can be entrusted with peoples lives. If they failed to do so, certain action should be made in order for those actions to be corrected. Professional malpractice may lead to removal of doctor’s license, fine or fees and or imprisonment. Doctors have responsibilities that they need to complete as professionals.

If you want to file a complaint about a doctor you need to contact the Board of Medicine, each state has one, to see what are their individual procedure regarding filing a grievance of this type. Each state has its own filing requirement thus you need to check on what governs on the state where the doctor is practicing.

Doctors responsibility is to make sure that they will do all their best to save lives, we know that they are just human, what they can do is limited and they cant stop anything from happening specially if it is really time for the person to go. Malpractice is definitely not an excuse, wrong decisions of doctors on how their patients will be treated is a major error.

No one should be above the law; even doctors can be a criminal by his profession. Let us ask for justice if we think that you are on the right track.
